I applied for a permanent resident visa exactly 3 years ago, on 17th May 2004. I am a speech and language therapist, or pathologist (in Canada), which is a shortage profession. I spent one year in BC around Whistler and Vancouver in 1996-97, which is when I decided to train as a SLP in my home country Hungary. I did that, had a year of work experience too and then I applied. I was asked to do the medical exam more than 2 years later, which I had in November 2006. Even this was now 6 months ago and the permanent resident visa is valid for one year from the medical exam, so if I get it now, for another 6 months. But I haven't got any answer from the office in Vienna up to the present day. Knowing that my qualification is a shortage profession in all provinces of Canada I am rather nervous and impatient that this is really getting a bit too long. I mean how could anyone plan their life for three-four years in advance, if they don't know where they wil be at the time.?
As today is the anniversary, what do you people think I should do? Write a letter to the Viennese office saying I want to know their answer, or to the Canadian Ombudsman (if it exists) to say that I am not being treated fairly, or what? I've really run out of options, so I'll really take on board what I am told.
And I am really pissed. Please, help me, I'm living in London, England now, but I don't want to stay here for too much longer, what shall I do?!

I think London is not the worst place. Now I'm Russia, believe me I'm in not the best place. What we need both is patient.

Hi csabar

Many of us have been somewhat exactly on the same position you are now, please don’t be so impatient it will kill all your expectations, if you were asked for medicals last November it means that your PPR is coming very soon… so let’s say that you receive the Visa these days… you will have to do your landing by November it could be time enough or not it depends of how prepared were you for this moment.

I know that it is hard to plan your life with an “unclear future”… well this is a risk that all of us took in a certain moment when we decided to apply for immigration, somehow you might be “prepared for the moment right when it comes to you”

Tip: don’t lay all your life on it; you might have a plan B just in case you won’t receive the visa (such as keeping your life as normal just if you were stay in your home country for ever.) nobody knows.

I just receive my visa and I have only 3 Months to do my landing (of course I was already prepared for it…2 years of planning for this moment)

Good luck, I hope you receive your visa right quick

Thanks, guys, it's really good that you all understand me and try to comfort me. Sorry I haven't responded, before, I haven't been near a computer for nearly a week.
Yes, Anatoly, I guess London is not such a bad place after all, you're right. And for two years it has given me patience, but I originally wanted to go to Canada, altogether for 10 years now, so I guess no matter how good or bad this place is, I haven't fulfilled my dreams, that's why it's so hard.
Eduardo, thanks for the advice. Yes, we should always have a plan B. I have already buildt too many expectations on this and if I found out now that I haven't got the visa, I wouldn't know what to do. But I want it so much and I've done so much for it, and everything I've done the right way! I really think I deserve it, so why are they playing with me???
Nouna, you are exactly in the same position, that's right. What is Caips that I should order? I have no idea what it is. I am really losing my patience, but it's good to know I'm not alone. Yes, hope is the last thing that remains, hope that our dreams will be realised one day soon. Which office have you applied to? Mine is at the Viennese consulate. Maybe they are the ones to blame? The others might be a bit more sensible?
Thank you for each one of you for the encouragement, it really helped.

Hey my friend csabar

Please don't take this so personal... it is just a backlog issue, you are not the only one who have been suffering the expectation due to a biggest waiting time.

Just let the things happen by itself. Sooner or later, it will come to you

Cheers
Eduardo

Hi Csabar ,

I didn't know about the caips before except for the last few months when I became impatient like you.Anyway CAIPS is the abbreviation of 'Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System' you cannot order it by yourself , you have to have someone in canada to ask for it for u or use the follwoing websites:
http://www.caips.ca
http://www.caipsretriever.com/
http://www.caipshelp.com/
http://www.caipsnotes.com
http://www.immigrationguides.com/canada/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=203&Itemid=110

all this will explain everything to you and give you the codes and abbreviations which could be used to intrepet your caips

wish u luck and hope we get our PPR soon
