Ask your son to contact his high school and ask for a copy.

I don't think you need school records. If he's not in Canada, he does not qualify. You can only sponsor him later. The reason CIC asks for school records is exactly this, to see if he resides in Canada. Does he have Canadian PR status? If not, he does not qualify by default. Did you include him on your PR application as dependant? If not, you can't even sponsor him later. Sorry for the bad news.

(Provide photocopies of all your official school records if applicable for the relevant four (4) year period immediately preceding the date of your application, provide.
In addition, provide photocopies of official school records for any dependent children in Canada or abroad even if you are not applying for Canadian citizenship on their behalf.)

the guide for citizenship application at cic website and it is clearly stated the even if your dependent children not applying for the citizenship with you
you have to attached the school record .
if your son is not dependent that mean he is 18+ you do not need the school record

If your kids do not live in Canada and don't have valid PR they cannot get citizenship. They first have to become PR before you can apply for citizenship for them. So, no matter if you provide the records or not they won't get citizenship!
