Hello all,

As I stated in the subject I applied to the Canadian immigration a couple of years ago through a consulting agency. I didn't want to deal with the whole process by myself and their offer sounded reasonable. They got back to me year after year with updates (such as, your check of 550 CAD is about the expire, you need to renew that and etc). Last year they wanted me to deposit that money into their personal account because the regulations had changed and the fee needed to be transferred electronically. I did that but there was a funny letter along with the expired check and its content was as following:

"Dear Sir/Madam,

This refers to the application for permanent residence in Canada that you recently submitted to the Case Processing Centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia on April 14, 2010.

Regulation 12 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations states that if certain requirements are not met, the application and all documents submitted in support of the application shall be returned to the applicant. A review of your application indicates your submission fails to meet these requirements."

This is the whole part that I had on the letter and the rest is blank. When I inquired this with my consultant in 2011, they said it's just a formality and once we send the fee through wire transfer they'll keep the application in the process. Since I have no direct contact with anyone besides the consultant that I hired I don't know anything about the process.

Does this mean my application is cancelled / refused or it might be still in the works.

I really appreciate your feedback on this.

Thanks,

Each application has a lockin date which means the day it is received by CIO, if they didnt get the full document and sent you a letter then your application might be cancelled. Becuase with so many candidates, cio will not wait for your payment to process your application

Thanks for the reply. I realized that there are 2 numbers on my application form (IMM 0008 -which was sent along with the fee related request) and both are hand writings. The one on the left starts with XE and has 9 other numerical digits, the one on the right starts with T and it has 11 digits. I tried both on the "application status check" on the official immigration website and none of the inquiry fields in the drop-down menu got matched with these 2 numbers.

Is there any way for me (as an individual) to verify the status of my application (either with these numbers or in some other way)?

Thanks

If your application was processed the cio must have given you a file number through a AOR. Since you didnt get a AOR so its not possible for you to track application as because there exisnt no file in cio database. your file must hv been returned to your consultant. Ask them.

One of the number should be your application number and the other your unique number, so one should work for checking ecas status.

If since April 2010 you did not receive any notification from CIC via your "consultant" (such as PER) then in my opinion this is a crook.
I really hope that I am wrong. ???

"the application status check " will show you the status once you enter one of the numbers "ONLY" when your application is in process. Your application has not yet gone through the first procedure of "PER" yet so it won't appear and from the letter above it seams that your application is incomplete or not qualified so it might have been returned to you. If I am not mistaken you have reapply if you still qualify under the new NOC which might reopen in Jan 2013.

Thanks
