I am planning to apply for citizenship this month. I have my country's passport expiring June 2022. Should I extend it before sending the application?

Considering that the average processing time is around 12 months, my passport will expire before I get a citizenship. Of course I am planning to extend it, but not until mid-November or so. Should I have it extended now or it is ok to apply for citizenship and extend my passport sometime after I submit my application?

No need to wait for renewal of current passport. Just submit citizenship application but have few weeks buffer first.
You dont need to update your application later on your new passport hence you can renew your passport later.

Thanks! I am currently at around 1250 days according to that calculator. There is online application option on the website. Is it worth it? Does it actually work? Are processing times faster?

I haven't seen too much discussion regarding that on the web.

Ok

Online thread. Some say they take too long for AOR but initial online guys got finished too. No idea how its going to be in future.

It looked like initially online applications sped through. It could have been because they allocated more resources to it as it was a new process. I am not sure what the status is now. I do know that 2021 applicants appear to be racing through the process. So you may well be lucky. Either way its a toss up. I applied last May and have heard nothing ......

Yup. There are constant complaints about AOR taking very long for online applicants but we have no idea if this delay is going to persist in the future. I guess you'll have to decide between the two.

Good luck.
