No - no risk.

Your child will automatically be a Canadian citizen (provided you are not diplomats).

Risk? Not at all

You both should have Provincial Health insurance to cover costs

Your baby will be born Canadian (Unless you're diplomatic or something like that...)

No worries, take care of your wife

Thank you very much..!!! :) :)

After my child born, we are eligible to apply for PR ?

No.

You receive no benefits from having a Canadian citizen child. You have to qualify for PR just like anyone else.

Are you sure about this one?
Somebody said me that if you are not PR or Citizen and if child will born then child will get citizenship whatever mother is holding. Child will not directly eligible for canadian citizenship.

Thankx in advance.

1. Unless one or more parents is in Canada as a diplomat, a child born in Canada is a citizen.

As said baby will be Canadian born (except if parents are diplomats)

We had our sin while being TFW, no issues, not advantages for PR (except you don't have to apply for the baby, obviously)

I am assuming that by "sin" you meant son... ;)

Hello All,
went through all replies but didn't get my answer.
I am on work permit(ICT) from last 3 years working here in Toronto and my wife and daughter both are on dependent visitor visa living with me.
we have had baby boy last week born in ON and today i received his birth certificate and SIN number too.
My questions are:-
1.Does only Canada passport for baby means he is Canadian?
2.I heard that unless we apply for his citizenship certificate he will not be Canadian citizen?and for that one of parent must be Canadian?

can any Guru help me to get answers for these questions?Any pointers also help.

Thanks In advance.

As clearly stated MULTIPLE times in the previous posts, a child born in Canada is a Canadian citizen.

Birth certificate is proof of citizenship, no need anything else

But if you're planning to travel you should apply for passport, anyways should be good to get a Canadian passport for your child
