I am currently living in Canada with my husband while we await my Inland PR application to be processed (Family-Class). My daughter, who is married with a child was not included in this application because she did not qualify. She would also like to try immigrating to Canada (we are from the USA). Her husband is a licensed mechanic in Michigan, USA. I looked up his NOC code and it appears that it is on the list of skilled trades <i>(7321 if I am not mistaken)</i> however, I have no idea where to have them begin looking as I am not well versed in this particular area of immigration.

He is 23, she is 20 and grandson is only a couple months old. He is a state of Michigan licensed mechanic, working on brakes and braking systems and also tune-up/performance. I know he does not do electrical systems. He also has experience in welding, but nothing 'documented' only the work that has to be done with his current job. He has been working at his current job for roughly 4 1/2 years. They would like to immigrate to the Windsor, Ontario area. Can anyone point me in the correct direction to begin the search to see if he qualifies? Your help will be greatly appreciated, thank you! :)

Hi

That NOC is not eligible for this year. You can check again next year.

Please read through this link for more information: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/complete-applications.asp

Regards,

This NOC is not on the list of eligible NOCs this year (for FSW-1). However, you might want to look at the FSW-2 route (skilled worker with job offer). Similar to this are most of the Provincial Nominee Programs. So a job offer is probably neccessary, but would be a possible way.
Another option might be the Skilled Trades Program (no idea though, how this works, but NOC 7231 would be eligible).

Federal Skilled Worker (look at option No. 2 - arranged employment):
