Thank you all for the wonderful messages posted by you. I have read each of your messages for more than 10 times and am touched by love, concern, praise, wish, encouragement showed by all of you. Kind of words used by you people have touched my heart. I will never forget the support given by you people and that too when I don't know you and you don't know me.

Spending time and posting/ reading views in this forum had been a pleasure. I had learnt a lot from the members of this forum. We are from different nationalities having set a goal to immigrate to Canada. We are working together and helping each other without knowing each other. Most of us had never met and will never meet in real life. We don't know each other and may never know each other in future also. Still all of us have a bond, a bond to guide and encourage each other for our common goal i.e immigrating to Canada.

Some of us have succeeded in getting visa and some are in process of getting it. Few have been unsuccessful. A lot are waiting for years for decision on their applications. We have seen a quite a number of posts by people who had been disgruntled by the treatment given to new immigrants in Canada. People who could not get the job opportunities they deserved or were expecting. Life is a challenge and getting visa is not an end to it. I don't think that we have enough to change the system of Canada. I think we should stop blaming the system and rather focus on how to change ourselves/ innovate to be better suited to the job market in Canada. We can and we will make a difference if we change ourselves. On our arrival we can't get the same job and status which we will leave while migrating to Canada. Let's innovate from the day one when we land to succeed in Canada. We are under FSW- that means we are educated and having vast experience. Our level of English had also been tested. The spirit to excel and succeed should not be bogged down by the initial response from the job market in Canada. Few points which I feel should be done and have seen people suggesting. If we don't learn from it we have no right to crib later on.

1. Try to land alone and not with complete family or send your family back after landing formalities.
2. We should try to get more degrees/ diplomas/ certification in our field of education and experience to be better suited for Canadian job market. As a PR our fee would be quite less to what an international student pays. The process of admission in degree/ diploma course should start from the 1st week we land. There are many part time courses and some are of 8 months. At least after 8 months nobody can say in job market that we don't have Canadian education.
3. Take up any survival job in the beginning.
4. Keep your expense to minimum. Room sharing, no cars, eating home cooked food etc etc.

Do suggest some more ideas. Be specific as to people of which occupation should do which course.

congratulations ...that was the best i have ever heard....have a wonderful life ahead...cheers laklak

I AM FLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYING TO CANADAAAAAAA, I JUST GOT IT, ONE MONTH AFTER MEDICALS . :D :D

I made it despite the fact that I am handicap. I don't have right leg and am using artificial limb. I mentioned the same in my application also. God had been gracious to me and my family. It was my wish to see my kids growing up in Canada and despite my disability I succeeded. I was not born handicap.

I prepared my application In JAN 2009 and was in the process of forwarding it to CIO; unfortunately in Feb 09 I met with accident. Some jerk driving car rashly hit me at the speed of 70-80 Kms/ Hr, i was standing 4-5 feet down the road. My leg was crushed, 2 pieces. Had to undergo 3 operations in 2 months and my leg could not be saved. While in the hospital, the wish to take my kids to Canada gave me courage to fight and live and more than half of the process of my application was done by me from my bed/ wheelchair. Filed my application in the last week of July 2009. Did IELTS, gathered PCC, renews PP's, registered marriage. Remained on bed for 6 months and was conscious that i may be rejected in medicals if i fail to walk properly and do my own work.

After the wounds dried up I had artificial limb, day and night walked to have better balance. Initially i had to take help of walker later on walking stick which I managed to dispense with. Everyday I climbed stairs 15-20 times in a day. Soon, I became independent started doing household chores as well as to do office work. Medicals came and the doctor made me to climb stairs- which i did, told to remove clothes - i did without assistance and wear clothes. Asked if i can drive car. I never used stick in front of him. Walked slowly but firmly.

It worked and I got VISA.

Now, for me another challenge starts. Due to my physical condition I can not do labour intensive work. I have heard a lot about the difficulties faced by new immigrants. I have a chalked out a plan which i would try to execute. I will bridge my education and experience with canadian studies. Canadian education will help me in getting good job.

One thing is sure - In Canada I will not go down without a fight. I will never come back as a looser. Today, my dreams had been fulfilled and I can see a better future for my kids.

LALY GOOD JOB..... ;D...KEEPITUP........AND KEEP IN TOUCH......

BEST REGARDS.....
