Hello,

I am a PhD international student in Quebec, and I heard I have several options to choose from to become a PR, but I am not sure which one is the best for me. I know at least two programs that I am eligible to: PhD stream, and CSQ regular selection. I know a little French, and I am good in English, however, in both cases I do not have an official test results.

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

The only obstacle is French, and yes I may stay in Quebec. Unfortunately, I do not have a work experience, since I have continued my education in a row.

Thanks

Not speaking French makes it very difficult for you to qualify under any Quebec-specific programs. Their goal is to retain and attract French speaking applicants to help grow and sustain French culture in Canada.

What sort of field are you in?

It is said that under the PhD stream, only 1000 applications will be considered. Does that mean it is highly competitive?

Also, is this the best time to apply or it does not matter? Since they say that a cap year begins Nov. 5. The closest English exam is Dec. 15, and it may take 3 weeks to get the results, so I guess at the beginning of new year my application will be ready.

I am concerned about the at least one year full-time job experience. As I mentioned earlier, I did not have gaps between my educational levels!! Can I still apply to the PhD stream?

So, these 1000 applications from each province not from all provinces?
Assuming you are referring to the federal program - it's 1000 for all of Canada.

I know it is outlined there, but I have some concerns and I appreciate if someone helps me. There are minimum requirements that should be met by all applicants under the Federal Skilled Worker, and this includes one year of full-time job. I do not have that, am I still eligible for PR under the PhD stream?

Hi.
Indeed, you need the one year of work experience, as the PhD Stream is a subclass of the FSW program. But, if you have RA, that counts as work experience.
Your future Phd Stream doubts are better discussed on the PhD Stream thread:
