I Am Being Charged For MSP (Health Insurance) Even After My Study Permit Expired?

I was on a study permit. I graduated and am now on a work permit. I updated my MSP account with my work permit but they are still sending me invoices for my " international student health fee ".

What's even more bizarre is that my study permit HAS EXPIRED. It expired in November but they still sent me a MSP invoice for the month of December.

When I went to go talk to them about this, they verbally said " you need to upload your studies completion document on your account ". But this instruction was never there on their website. On their website it only tells you to change your status and upload your work permit. And that's exactly what I did.

Did anyone else have to do this? Did you have to upload your " studies completion letter " on your MSP profile to stop getting the MSP invoice?

If you don't update completion document on your account, MSP Bills will stop 3months after expiration of your Study Permit. Once done, request them to rescind the bill

But where is this even written that you have to upload your studies completion document? When I search the internet for this rule, I cannot find any source which mentions this. And there doesn't even seem to be a place on the MSP account where you can upload this document. If you go on your account and go to the page where you request to change your status, they only tell you to upload your work permit and nothing else.

I mean common sense would tell me that coverage would stop as soon as your study permit expires because that is the date when a student is supposed to leave Canada. That's whats written on the study permit. The expiry date of the study permit is made a few months later than the expected graduation date.

What does a studies completion document prove anyways? What if a student completed one program and started another? The completion letter does not prove that someone is no longer a student, it only proves that they completed a program. They can still be a student.

I’m sure you are looking for the answers, not discussion. And tbh you wont find that common sense in mosf feds or prov offices. I went through same situafion, i mailed with tracker and ask to speak with level 2 and it got sorted. Good luck

Many apply for an extension and can be on implied status or are on implied status having applied for PGWP. Assume that is why there isn’t an automatic termination when study permit expires.
