Dear all,

I am an international student and graduated from a college in ON. I a currently working but my work permit going to be expired in October. However, I am planning to get marry with Canadian guys.
I have some questions please:

How is the application process?
Is this a right time to marry while the work permit getting expired? VO will doubt about it?

What should I do????

Senior pls help:(((

What do you mean with 'canadian guys' ?
Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend? If yes ,how long have you guys been dating?

I am a girl and marry with a boy.

We have known each other for over a year.

and what is comom-law and spouse? are they different?

Please help

Common-law is when you have lived together for at least 12 months. Spouse would be legally married, although you can also have a common-law spouse.

What is the process to get marry with a canadian boy?

I will really appreciate your information.
thank you very much

Does this boy knows you want to marry him?

If he is a Canadian boy, how old is he?

No offense but I sometimes wonder how people with english skills like this are able to graduate from University or even participate in a course in Canada.

Anyways , have you guys lived together for 12 months and are able to show proof of this (rental agreement, joint bankaccount etc).

A marriage would look a little suspicious if you get married only a few weeks before your work permit expires.

May I ask what kind of work permit youre currently on?

VO will doubt about it if you marry before your visa expires, however, if you have sufficient proof of your relationship and its genuineness, it won't be a problem.

By the way, xin chao em :)

this thread amuses me lol :D

If you live in Ontario, see this page for information about getting married. Other provinces will have similar information pages.

It's important to understand that getting married doesn't automatically allow you to stay in Canada. You still need to apply to CIC. However, if certain conditions are met, then CIC must approve your application. See this page for more information about the application process:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse.asp

You will want to apply before your permission to stay in Canada expires.

It's true that some immigration officers will be suspicious if you get married just before your work permit expires. However, as others have mentioned, you will probably be okay if you have enough evidence that your relationship is genuine. What is important is that the primary reason you're marrying your boyfriend should be to be with him, and not just to stay in Canada.

If you live in Ontario, you can contact CLEO for help with your sponsorship application.

Of course, people on this forum will also help!

Seriously your english got me lost.. :P next time try proofreading it 1st before you post something..if someone else would read the topic would be like .. Getting married to any canadian guys to stay in canada wahahaha ... 1st ask your partner if he wants to marry you.. Then apply for spousal sponsorship if you guys get married..

The OP wrote they've known their boyfriend for a year. Taking everything they've written into account, I didn't get the impression they intended to marry just anybody.

Seriously, learning a second language is hard. I wouldn't belittle somebody for that. Imagine if the tables were turned and you were immigrating to Korea, say, to be with your partner. How good do you think your Korean would be, even after some time in Korea? What if people there criticized it, when you were trying hard? Heck, people from some parts of Canada seem to even complain about occasionally having to say "un billet, s'il vous plait" when they're in Montreal. So imagine when you're here from another country.

Totally agree with you Frege

The girl had made a clear statement but maybe in poor English in her message.
We tend to forget here that the main purpose of this forum is to help our selves and along the way help others with knowledge gained here!
After all our purpose here is to be with our loved ones.
This girl's language skills been mocked and she will be discouraged to even come back!

Regards

Agreed. And the only way people will improve their English skills is by freely speaking or typing without worrying about being mocked.
If you can speak a dozen languages and work for the UN then go right ahead and ridicule. Otherwise lay off.

not mockin her english .. just giving some advise as my english is not that good either and the best way to learn is get corrected by other people who uses it daily .. as i am an immigrant like her but was schooled in 3 different language subjects ..

as for the one who started this .. please before you get married with a canadian guy ..make sure about everything dont rush into it ..if you are already sure that you wanna get married .. just apply for spousal sponsorship after you get married ..but i would tell you to try getting your work visa renewed 1st .. that way you can apply an inland application rather than going back home and apply for outland .. because when your visa expires you should leave canada overstaying would cause you redflags ..
