Hello,

I am a PhD students at McGill university, since September 2015.

I am have a student visa with a student permit. I live in Montreal.

Can I apply to the Express Entry program? If yes, can I change my visa status from student to PR residents while still enrolled as a PhD student at McGill?

Thank you!

I'm no expert, but that's what I'm doing. I'm a student at Trent, but I qualify for Express Entry based on prior work experience before I came to Canada. An immigration company came to our school and had a seminar, and I asked him what he thought about my situation. His reply was "Get in the pool!" So I did, got my ITA, and am now winding through the process!

Dear aminahc1,
Did you apply Federal Skilled Worker or CEC?

You can if you meet the requirements for FSW. Only caveat is that EE doesn't work with Quebec and you might want to explain in your application which province you choose as your intended destination and why

I will definitely have to move to an anglophone province because I could only teach in English and there are limited option in Quebec.

Should I move to Ontario already (before I finish writing my dissertation) or just my intention is enough?
