A long journey finally came to an end with my oath ceremony yesterday. Applied in January 2012 and passed the test in October 2012. Got hit with RQ at the interview (2 days short of 1095) and have been waiting since. I got the notice to appear for oath a few weeks ago and as of July 1st 2014, finally a citizen.

Congratulations and wish all the best to you and your loved ones!:)

BTW, not sure if convenient to ask, why they think you were 2 days short? They calculated with the CIC calculator online or use their own way? I mean, we could defend ourselves by providing the calculation result generated on the CIC website, right? They cant just say you are 2 days short abruptly.

Being few days short doesn't mean the residency calculator made a mistake, rather it's the applicant who may enter the wrong dates for his travels and when they see the stamps they find out that dates don't much. Also you may have made multiple short trips to US and don't remember/ report all of them

Great!. Congratulations.

I am one of the post test RQ case too and waiting for Oath invite. Did you have Judge hearing or did you have to provide any justification for 2 days?

I think the new law will not be enforced until next year, if I were you I would apply and see what happens

I was my mistake. I used the CIC calculator but during the interview some of my stamps didn't match. Shame on me for not double check all dates before submitting the application. After redoing the calculator I realized I was 2 days short but rather than resubmitting, I completed the RQ and explained the reason for being short. Basically what had happen was I entered arrival at a certain date but since the flight came in past midnight, the date stamp in the passport didn't match. My RQ was literally a binder full with credit card statements, T4s, leases and mortgage documents, letter from employer, kids school records and even receipts from larger purchases made over the past few years. It was a lot of documents, but enough to avoid JH before oath.

"Basically what had happen was I entered arrival at a certain date but since the flight came in past midnight, the date stamp in the passport didn't match"

Jesus Christ... just that leads to a RQ..? Even they know it is just typo..?

You know what, they are just b*tching on this.
All the stupid restricts/bills come from their absence of confidence in Canada. They don't believe Canada is attractive or good enough to keep ppl living here after obtaining passport. Shame on them!
