Dear Seniors

My 5 months old son have hypospadias with minor cordies. I have consulted to 2-3 MD Urologist (Surgeon) for his treatment bcos I wanted to do his treatment in India before our landing to Canada. But all of them told me that it can be treated @ age 18 Months and later. We can't wait for that long as our Visa will be invalid by that time next year.

I'm wonder if he can go under treatment it in Canada after landing. Bit scared as he is a small baby and I've no idea about Canadian medical system. Shall that treatment be free for my son?

Need urgent help of u all..Please do reply, thanks in Advance

Medical treatment is good and free also. In some provinces there is waiting for the health benifits to start, check for the province you are going to land.

Thanks a lot for prompt reply, I have planned to land @ Ontario and we can't get/apply health card until we have lived there for 153 days in Six months. I'm not sure if we may get Medical Card then we have to wait in a queue for medical treatment. How about the medicine expenses?
Sorry Sir,I use to live in England and medical treatment+Medicine were free of cost to all. So that I have these question in my mind. Please do reply.

Well medical treatment is also free in Canada but you need to pay for your medicines else buy an insurance for covering medicine expenses.

If you are planning to land in Ontario, you need to know that Ontario does not offer health insurance to new immigrants from day 1,you will be eligible for free health insurance after 3 months of landing.During that period you need to buy private insurance OR try to land in one of the provinces which provide health insurance to newcomers from first day of landing such as
1. Alberta
2. Saskatchewan
3. Manitoba
4. Newfoundland and Labrador
5. Nova Scotia
6. Prince Edwards Island

Sometimes there are exceptions ,such as Alberta offers heath insurance from day 1 only to immigrants who are coming outside of Canada ,otherwise there is a waiting period of 3 months so better do some research on each province.

Hope that helps.

thanks for suggestions, but I have some family friends based in Mississauga those will help us to settle. I'm planning to work for myself which will not be possible without their help. Considering the medical benefits in mind and landing to Alberta will not be a wise choice. We can wait for 3 months and I will but a travel insurance from India for first 6 months. Please suggest me if its batter to buy from Canada..as Indian companies are helpless on claim time.

Sorry as I dont have any personal experience in this regard so dont have any first hand knowledge but I believe its better to get it from a Canadian insurance company. In this regard follow "Qorax" s previous posts,I think he has posted some excellent info in this regard or contact "Pippin".

Hope that helps!
