Hi,

i am going to Pakistan to get married in November of 2011 and i am thinking of staying there for about 7 mths. I am a Canadian citizen and my husband is from pakistan. I wanted to know if it is a good idea to submit the sponsorship application while i am there. since i am staying in Pakistan for 7 mths, that way the time would count towards his process and i wouldn't have to wait for so long. i would not be working for that 7 month time. would that impact my sponsorship negatively. OR if i should come back to Canada, and get a job and then submit my husband sponsorship application. please help.

You can send it in while you are in Pakistan. It will save some processing time. If you are just visiting, use your Canadian address as your residential address, because if you state upfront you will be staying for a long time the visa officer will want proof you will return to Canada. Better to just submit the application as quickly as possible, stay there for the 7 months, then return to Canada. Keep proof you stayed with him in Pakistan, since it is good evidence your relationship is genuine. You can either send this proof to the visa office to be added to your file, or have your husband take it with him to the interview.

Being on EI will not affect your eligibility to sponsor, but they will need to know how you plan to support yourself and your spouse when he comes to Canada.

It is best to submit proof of your plans along with your application, yes. So, if you have your own business, or will be going to work with a family member, whatever your plans are, outline them. Also, if you have savings and investments to live off, show proof of this as well.

You would likely be eligible to sponsor, but remember that if there are doubts at the applicant processing stage about your spouse's ability/willingness to be self-supporting, you may be asked to provide further proof of being financially capable of supporting them by the visa office. If you are unable to provide sufficient proof at that time, the application can be denied. You will need to plan your finances carefully if you are living off savings and not planning to be employed again before the applicant is approved.

for pictures that have to be inculded with the application, is it the hard copy of the picture (like the one you get from a photo lab) or a print out from the printer

You can't be on EI if you are out of the country.

Eitheris fine. Lots of people copy them into a document programme like Word, so they can add commentary like names, dates and occasions.

Unless it's maternity leave.
