I'm a Canadian married to a Pakistani and have been in Pakistan with him since September of last year with one trip back to Canada for a month. I'm going back to Canada to deliver my baby and live there. I want my husband to be able to come with me on a visit visa to be there for the birth. My question is, what is the best way to get his application processed? Would it make a difference if I submitted the papers to Islamabad before I left or does it not make a difference and he can FedEx them.
How long should this take to be approved?

I'm 31 weeks so I have to leave soon before 32 weeks, the air line doesn't allow flying after 32 weeks I'm told for PIA. (Are there airlines that allow travel a little later then 32 weeks with a doctors letter?) I would be leaving before him to settle living arrangements but hoping he can be present for the birth.

Right now, the current processing time for a TRV out of Islamabad is over 11 weeks. You need to apply as soon as possible but there is a good chance that the app won't be processed before your baby is born.

That being said, I'm sorry to say that I don't believe there is a very high chance of your husband being approved for a TRV. For this visa, he must prove very strong ties to Pakistan, stronger than any ties to Canada. The VO will look at the fact that his wife and new baby will be in Canada, which are pretty much the strongest ties there are, and think that there is a strong possibility of him overstaying.

Most people who apply for a TRV to go visit a Canadian spouse are denied entry for this very reason. But you should try, as there are the few cases that do get approved.

Good luck.

@Aishazaman : The best option is to go back to CANADA and apply for your husband sponsorship and start the PR spouse visa process,as 80% chances are that he will not get a temporary visa for Canada,so its better to start the spouse visa process under your sponsorship and i know it takes months for that process but nothing we can all do about it.
