Humber College review

As an international student at Humber I don’t recommend it. Be ready to pay for absolutely everything: parking, locker, white coat for your labs and even paper towels. You won’t be able to find a job on campus cause it’s just for domestic students in work-study program (financed by the government, not Humber. The college can’t afford to hire international students and pay them as we’re supposed to come here with a bag full of dollars and to pay for everything from your pocket). Frankly, I feel like Humber does not care about me at all and for paying 14500 CAD a year I expect more interest in me. I expect my program coordinator to know my name and be helpful. I expect my professors know I’m international and not offer me to join the hiring process to find out at the end that I’m not eligible because it’s a work study for domestic students only. It made me feel like a black sheep. Obviously they don’t care. I expect my International student advisor at Humber be more kind and at least TRY to help me find the way not to pay my obligatory health insurance fee since I’m eligible for OHIP for the entire year. It’s pretty obvious that I’m paying double for the same thing and will not use the international insurance at all. Humber is so disgustingly commercial and it cares just for money and not real people and their needs. It makes me feel really disappointed.

I completely disagree with above "review".

International centre knew me by name. So did the assistant Dean of my section, all the faculty members, etc.

Yes, you have to pay for parking, locker etc. I had to fork out an extra $1500, on top of tuition fees, during my time there. So did all the domestic students in my class.

UHIP is obligatory for ALL students. International and domestic. It doesn't matter if you have OHIP.

There are jobs for international students as well. They're hard to find but they exist. Most departments, not all, have to hire at least one international student. I applied for a volunteer position and instead got hired in a position that was posted as "work-study". Humber still have to pay those positions as well, but only like 30%. The rest is funded by the government. They pay 100% of wages to international students.

Your experience on campus is up to you. If you walk in thinking you will be served everything on a silver platter, you will be highly disappointed. Humber demands a lot of their students. Timelines. Diligence. Discipline. Hard work. Everything that is expected of you in the work place.

I successfully graduated and am working full time in my field of studies on my PGWP.

I couldn't recommend this college more than I do. If you want an education that prepares you for a career in your field of studies, Humber is the place.

What you make of it is 100% your responsibility.

I find Humber to be pretty responsive. I have done an application using Ontario college website within 24 hours I am set up. My friend got offer same week. Easy to get on the phone in comparison to other colleges. I got campus job. International is no spoon feed. Focus on the reason you went there
