Huge increase in processing time at London Office - Please Advise!

My Wife and I applied for a PR Visa for her in March 2014, the wait time for the London VAC was around 11 months when they received it. As of January 2015 it has now gone up to 29months!?!?!

I am Canadian, our 2 kids are Canadian born in Ireland, My Wife is Polish. We all live in Ireland.

We were gearing up to get ready to move this June, which would have been exactly 11 months from the time they received the application. However now instead of a few mere months, we are looking at just over 2 years to get this visa approved. I need advice, I'm not getting any younger and the kids are just about to start 1st grade so the timing was right.

First of all take a deep breath and dont worry! The change in times is becuase London was transferred a large amount of applications from Islamabad. These applications had already been in process for 1-2 years therefore when London calculated their processing times from 1st Jan 2014 to 31st Dec 2014 they had to include these applications in that calculation thus the wait times soared to 29 months. If you check out the London thread you can see the spreadsheet they keep updated about London processing times. London are still averageing between 6-12 months, some take a little longer, some a little shorter.

Have you checked your application status on ECAS to see whether you are 'in process' yet? You can also order your GCSM notes to check what stage your application is at if there is no info on ECAS. These take around a month to arrive after you order them but will give you detailed information on what stage your application is at. You are getting to the high end of processing times but its not uncommon.

Thanks for posting this and the reply. It stopped me having a heart attack after I saw the processing times for London had jumped to months !!

We have an almost identical situation to you. Husband Canadian, kids Canadian born in UK and application sent so we can get there before oldest kids starts school next year. I was freaking out it had changed to over two years. Fingers crossed it doesn't take that long.
