My hubby spoke with his MP today and was told we should hear from CIC in April,if we don't,to call her back! :)
Looks like we might get AIP before I get my OWP or at the same time that I applied for in Februaly!!-all in all God is Great :)

I guess they are estimating five months because that's when CIC said I should hear back!!-She said they were working on my hubby's background check!!
They've been speeding things up so we can hope! :)

This is standard for the inland process.

The MP can't "speed things up" if you are under the posted times. They just basically told you to expect the times on the CIC website, and get back to them if your time goes a few months longer. In all honesty i don't think your MP actually contacted the CIC on your behalf in this case.

True story.

Are inland applications now processing faster than outland ones? Anybody know. I thought inland takes 2 years?

the 2012 applicants are lucky, the first stage now is 5-6 months and 2nd stage 5 months average, so about a year total. the problem is processing times keep changing.

My wife and I originally opted for the outland process because we thought it would have been faster. At the time it was 7 months and now it is 12. No matter what you do CIC will screw you.

Same with me, We wanted to do outland because it was faster but had no choice since we already did medical and all forms for inland, but like a charm the processing of stage 1 went down from 11 months to 6 months so now we have an open work permit. Just can't travel yet but its ok .

They are always happy to take the money. They shouldn't get paid until the application has been approved.

I had a similar problem. First time we contacted MP they got back to us in 3 days saying we should hear by Feb 24th. When that date elapsed, my husband contacted the MP's office again and now it's been a week and they havent gotten back to us.

I'm doubting whether they contacted NDVO at all! It could also be NDVO being slow to respond to even MP's query. I think it's just cruel to keep someone's passport for over 4 months with no correspondence or timeline.

Anyone know why NDVO keeps passports for so long?

yes that is cruel.....not as cruel as fighting with them for 4 years tho, knowing perfectly well, that my partner cant come here even though we won our Appeal !

That's ridiculous!

Why can't your partner go to Canada? Or do you have to reapply after an appeal? I'm really clueless about how appeals work.
