I want to ask two questions:

1. Can I CHANGE class starting date despite what is written on the study permit? Let's say applied for 4th Jan class but since CIC painfully slow in processing and they release the visa on the end of January, can I still use the permit for the next semester (let's say for May).

2. Can I use the study permit to travel to Canada BEFORE the class starting date? Let's say CIC oddly release the visa three months before the class start, can I stay in Canada as a student (or part time work based on the visa regulation).

Thanks guys!

1. Very unlikely to have visa issued once schools start, CHC might ask you to submit 'letter of deferral'.
2. You will get TRV (not study permit) and you can use it to enter Canada. IO at POE have rights to refused your entry way earlier than schedule.

What is TRV and what's the difference with Study Permit?

TRV allows you to enter Canada and you get SP at POE. You have applied for SP (along with TRV).

Thanks for the explanation :)

So Temporary Resident Visa needed to enter Canada and Study Permit needed to stay within Canada, correct?

One will get TRV automatically once applied for SP, both will have the same period.

Please correct me if I'm wrong :)

Yes. Technically, its on IO at POE to decide the length of TRV but almost always its equal to SP length.

Any news guys?
