I don't know what the standard practice is, but I can tell you what I did, and I got the Visa I think mainly because of my SOP as my ties to home country were quite weak and I had other weaknesses in my application.
So here's what I did, I first copied and pasted all the questions in a word document and entered enough space between each question equally to form ONLY 1 page. to do this, I had to put the page margin in word as narrow, otherwise the SOP would not fit. I also put all fonts at 10-11, not above that.
After that, I answered each and every question separately, this way, the exact questions were answered.
I will give you a simple sample below, with the answers deleted. I deleted the answers as there are a lot of personal information within them. This is also one more important aspect of the SOP, do not be afraid to write how much money you are making, for example, I pointed this out in the last answer, to show them my ties to the home country. I am also not saying that this is the best way to write the SOP, many more knowledgeable members might disagree with me. But I hope that this helps you as a starting point.
