How to Withdraw PR Application

Hello Everyone,

Happy new year and wish you all best luck with their Immigration Needs!!!

I applied for PR renewel without meeting residency obligation and when I went to pickup my card, I was told that I need further review and an Interview so I should wait to hear back from Local Office. Since than I have not heard anything and its been 5 months since my card is in Local office waiting to be picked up. and in Feb six months will be over.

My Questions are
Is there anyway I could withdraw my application now?
Have they put this information on my immigration file in system?
At this stage do I really need to withdraw my application or They will just send it back after 6 Months and I have to reapply for renewel.
I have sponsored my spouse and her application is pending so I dont want any negetive impact on Immigration Application.
Last question, since my sponsership application is already approved from CPC-Mississauga does it still effect my spouse application in home country.

You could send a letter to immigration, same address you applied for your PR card and request to withdraw your application. I do not know if they will accept it but other people seem to have been in the same situation and have successfully withdrawn their applications. It is worth a try anyway.

Why did you apply to renew when you did not meet the residency requirements? Do you have H&C grounds for why they should approve you?

Is anyone had to withdraw his/her PR renewal application successfuly and reapply without a negative impact and get his/her new PRC without any issue? When we called CIC and ask to withdraw the PRC renewal application, they do not recommend it !!

There was at least one person on this forum I remember having said he applied without meeting the residency requirements, he withdrew his application and got his letter back that they had received his letter and his application was withdrawn, apparently no questions asked.

I also remember someone saying that he was called to an interview because he did not meet the residency requirements and the person told him that he could continue to process the application which would probably cost him his PR or he could withdraw his PR renewal application right then and there.

When you phoned CIC, what did they tell you would happen if you were to withdraw it? Keep in mind that although the call centre can give you some guidance, the people who work there are not all equally knowlegable and you may phone them 3 times, get 3 different agents and 3 completely different answers.

Thanks Leon for the information....They said it does not make sense to withdraw and the file may go to the same process by transfering to the local office as they have the old application ....also every case is different

When you apply, they are only allowed to look at the 5 years immediately before you apply. If you withdraw your application and they accept your withdrawal and stop processing it, I do not think it would go the same way as the old application should be out of the picture but I can not guarantee you anything either.

Thanks for your detailed response to my questions and I appreciate your guidence.
My renewel application is already approved since August 20100 and in Feb completing 6 months, Do I still need to withdraw or wait to complete 180 days and reapply in summer after completing requirments.

What negitive impact it will have on my spouse application in home country?

i have a question?how long did it take fro u from sending ur application and recieveng the letter fro ur interview?cuz i have the same situation,i applied before meeting residency obligation.
