How to update new passport for inland spousal sponsorship?

Hi Forum Vets,

We need to update my wife (Japanese)'s passport because the old passport we used in her PR application is expiring this Sept.

Has anyone done this before? What is the correct procedure and does it delay the processing time usually?

Hey,
I also applied for PR from within Canada, on April, 2014, my husband is my sponsor. My old passport expired a month ago and I got a new one in my consulate in Montreal. I was also wondering if I should provide a copy of my new passport to CIC and how to do that. But today I received my approval (finally!) and it said in the letter specifically that in case if my passport number changed I must contact CIC ASAP. So I just sent them a scan of my new passport using the email address they specified in the letter. So I believe that you can also provide a new passport information when you get your approval. Or else, just call CIC hotline and ask them what you should do!
