Hi Guys,

I have few non english stamps on my passport distributed on different pages. I want to translate them prior to the interview .. I have some questions .. all the stamps are prior to the period I am claiming for citizenship

1- Should I scan the whole passport or just the pages containing the non-english stamps?
2- Two stamps are not fully clear but the year is clear .. can the translation be for example "a Stamp in 2005" just as it is out of the claimed period?

Please give me your feedback on similar experience.

Thanks,

Hi Sicko,

Long time :)

The main thing you have to make sure is that the translation has to be from certified translator, otherwise they wont accept it. Give it to the certified translator and he/she knows what to do with the ones that is not clear. If you are from Ontario, the translator has to have ATIO. click the link below and you can find certified translators

Hey man .. Thanks .. Ya I am aware of this part .. I just want to know if I have to scan all the pages of the passport or just the pages with "Non-english stamps"

I have more than 100 stamps .. most of them going back to 2004 .. few of them are Arabic and all of them are outside the intended period.

Thanks,

Something I dont understand, scan the pages for your translator? I gave my whole passport to the translator, I also had many stamps to get translated. I am also including the copy of all the pages of my passport + translation in my application. If you don't know what to provide to the translator, I would ask him/ her but I personally would gave all the pages.

How was the translation done .. is it like a summary sheet .. or individual translation for each stamp? My plan was to do it myself as I know every single date and get it my translation certified.

So it is a whole summary sheet for all the stamps (English/Non English) (Entry/Exit) or just an individual translation per stamp? All my non English stamps are outside the 4 years claimed period.

Also if it is a summary sheet .. many stamps are not clear .. only the year is clear (which is outside my 4 years period) so if it is a summary sheet I am afraid things will be confusing.

Its a summary sheet and you cant make copies and give it to translators, they wont accept it. As others advised, take the original passport to the translator, they know what to do. I am pretty sure they will either laugh or get offended if you translate the stamps and take the sheet to them to just certify it.

That didnt answer my question .. I have 100+ Stamps in my passport as it goes back to 10 years ago ... most of these stamps are prior to my claimed residency period.. if they have to do a summary sheet on a rate of 5$ per stamp .. we are looking on more than 500$ .. while the non-english stamps are less than 20 in the passport .. that's why I am asking should we translate them individually or go through the whole passport!!

The Question again .. should the translator go through the whole passport or is there other way to point on the non english stamps and refer to them in other sheet with translation?

Thanks,

Though personally opinion, I am pretty confident about this one.

You ONLY need to translate those stamps that are not in English/French. The translators that are accredited in Canada can do it for you. In my case they made a copy of all my passport pages that have non-eng/fr stamps and translated them on another sheet of paper with correspondences pointed out.

I guess that should work out .. why to translate English Stamps! Also all these stamps are outside the claimed period .. so I don't think any information other than the Date will matter for CIC... the rest of the stamps are in English.

Hey all, Just need an advice on stamp translation, please.

I just talked to a certified translator. He said I would have to color-photocopy (and he emphasized on color-copies) all the pages (including the empty pages), and then he would translate all non-English information in each page and also certify other pages (e.g., there is US visa on page 10) without translation if in English. So the cost would be $50/passport + $5/stamp.

I was wondering if this is how it should be done or certifying every single page (even English and empty ones) would be unnecessary.

Thanks.

Yes of course only the non-english ones. But you need to translate all the stamps that the officer will be looking it. So if your passport is a 10-year and is still valid then you need translation for all non-english one. Otherwise how will the officer know it falls within or outside the period?

$5 a stamp is way too low I think. If you find one with this price please let us know who.

Can you share with us the contact info of that translator? I guess you are in Mississauga.

Hi guys, I contacted the Arab Community Center (exists in several GTA locations and I think in Mississauga) http://www.arabcommunitycentre.com/contact/. They charge $40 for the first 5 stamps plus $3 for any additional stamps.
But my question, for family application, do we have to translate the passport of the kids in addition to the parents?
