How to track paper application of student visa?

I want to know if there is any way to track and see the application progress when making paper student visa application ?

From what I know you will only know about the decision when you receive passport, if there was any other way it would be helpful.

It says you will no longer get update by mail. So does it mean processing will be different?

Or processing remain as same as paper application ?

And if it's gets approved I am assuming I'll get my passport back normally with stamp
