How to successfully complete a soft landing?

I will be landing in Vancouver soon but do not plan to move right now. I plan to go home and do some job hunting and then move by the end of this year.

What can I expect during the landing process? I have family friends in Vancouver whose address I will be giving to the border agent. Can I tell them that I plan to return after 1-2 days back to my country?

Also, apart from landing and signing the COPR, is there anything else I need to do while in Canada. This will determine if I should go during the weekdays or weekend.

What all documents do I need? I just moved to a new country and my bank account is only 2 months old. Can I show them my current bank balance statement?

Thanks!

I think 1 or 2 days might be too short. To be on the safe side you should at least wait to receive your PR Card unless you absolutely trust your friends to send it to you (which might be a problem as sometimes courier companies will return the card to the Canadian Government) Also, depending on the province you land, you will want to apply for your health card and open bank statements etc.

I have not heard about his happening. Its really strange that the courier companies open the package and see whats inside it.

Is there a specific courier company that does this?
Its actually very common. Something about the PR Card being the property of the Government and also to prevent fraud in cases of stolen cards.

You mean doing job hunting IN camada from abroad? Why not just land and do it from there?

I guess I will have to take a chance. No other option because I have to land before November and due to family issues and my current job notice period being 3 months, I have to go to India to take care of things before I make this big move. I stay outside of India so its quite a messy situation.

Im just not sure of job hunting would be easy from abroad as you might miss out on opportunities. Good luck though!

Thanks :) My industry is pretty small and I have some contacts there. And I can always go later if the job hunting proves difficult. Its just that now, there is this situation that I cannot move to Canada before next year.
