Hi All,

I have been offered a Job in Vancouver as a skilled worker. Company is offering full support and the plan is to take my family along with me to canada.

I have a wife who is Computer Engineer (not much IT work experience though, currently working in a different field) and a daughter who is just 3 years old.

What type of visa I should be applying ? And what would be the right approach. SOWP and Study permit ? Should I be applying together with my work permit ?

Your employer first has to apply for an LMIA and then you can apply for a work permit. You can apply you can apply for your wife's OWP and child's TRV at the same time or after your work permit.

I really hope that it's not one of the many, many, employment scams that we see so often on the forum. Want to be sure, and just identify the employer and how they offered the job to you?

Thanks for the reply. If I apply for the TRV and OWP will it be valid until my work permit expiry and they can live with me in Canada as long as I have a work permit?

Hi Thanks, even I had that feeling. :)

I had around 5 rounds of Interviews on skype. They have asked me to take a TRV, they provided the invitation letter. I have applied for TRV and the PPR came last week. They already Provided the tickets and they are paying for the hotel and other expenses while the final round of interviews are gonna take place next month.

Doesnt it sound genuine ?

Their profile is similar to my current employer and the people who interviewed me had knowledge about what I am working on. They do have a decent website. Company does exist in the location they have said ( This I have verified with my friends in canada).

Also some mixed reviews from previous employees in glassdoor, but none of it is about cheating.

Thanks :)

I am worried about my family’s visa than mine. Is it difficult to get SOWP and TRV? Also I am in confusion whether my 3 year old will need a TRV or a study permit!

While applying for the work permit what are the ways to demonstrate ties to prove that I will return after the Visa expiry.

Is there anything apart from LMIA the employer can do for getting the work pemit and sowp,TRV? Any specifics in offer letter or contract that can help the cause ?

Securing your visa and job is likely the hardest part. In general, Canada makes it relatively easy for spouses and children of high skilled workers to accompany them to Canada. Your future employer may have an HR department that will file all the immigration documents for your family. Your daughter only needs a TRV if she is not attending post-secondary education.

Thanks a lot for the advice.

Once the LMIA is available would it be a big deal to get the work permit issued ?

Also when will be the right time to try for PR? In case if I get the work permit and job?
