Hi, everyone

I am in need of help here possibly gather some valuable information in regards to bringing my mother-in-law into Canada

I am an Afghan/Canadian Citizen, my wife recently migrated into Canada from Afghanistan, she landed here on may 27th - 2015

now I am wondering if i could sponser my wifes mom so she could be a big help for my wife during her pregnancy because i am at work most of the time and she needs that extra special care which sometimes i cannot provide.

it took about 3 years in order to bring my wife from back home Afghanistan, it was a pain but thankgod she was finally able to come to Canada and got her PR.

So what is the procedure to get my mother-in-law here, and how long would it take, I know that times are tough in Afghanistan and its not that easy to sponser someone, but i was able to bring my wife here not sure if i can apply or my wife can apply to bring her mother here during her pregnancy time.

I would appreciate it alot any help i can get from here, Thankyou

Regards

If you are asking about the procedures for bringing your mother in law here as a PR - it will take longer than it took to bring your wife. Plan on 5+ years

Additionally, there are only a limited number of spots available each year - and last year all of the spots were taken in a day and a half. Your application would have to arrive on the first or second business day of January to have any hope of being included in the batch of applications being processed for 2016. Additionally, you will need to meet minimum income requirements and prove you have sufficient income to support yourself, your dependents and your mother in law. To prove this, you will have to provide Canadian tax returns for 2014, 2013 and 2012 that show you have made enough income from Canadian sources to meet the low income cut off. As always further information is available on the CIC web site.

If you are looking to bring your mother in law to Canada sooner - a super visa is a more realistic option (again, details are on the CIC web site). A super visa will allow her to visit Canada for longer periods of time but not live here permanently.
