Hi my Seniors (experienced guys on this issue),

Please I worked for a Nigerian NGO for 5 years as a Communication Officer/Research Assistant before I left for further studies in the UK. I enroll and completed a master degree in January 2011 and would wish to secure job and work permit in Canada. How possible is this and how can I go about it.

Thanks a lot for your anticipated cooperation.

Cheers

It's typically pretty difficult to secure a job offer in Canada. In order to hire you, a Canadian employer must prove they were unable to find a Canadian citizen or PR to fill the role and must therefore hire you. Since hiring a foreign worker takes a great deal of time and paperwork, many employers aren't willing to consider foreign candidates for open positions.

Having said that, you can certain try. Look through job postings and post your resume on sites such as monster.ca and the Canadian Job Bank. There are no employers on this forum.

Thanks a lot for your precious and inspiring reply. I will post my CV through those sites. I don't know if you have any advice for me on the skilled/professional worker immigration application with regards to my situation.

Your skilled worker question is too broad.

You should spend some time familiarizing yourself with the various skilled worker immigration streams and determining which ones you might qualify for using the information on the CIC web site:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp

Once you've had a chance to read up on the programs and learn which one(s) you might qualify for, come back here with more specific questions.

Alternatively, if you're not comfortable or don't have the time to do this research yourself, then I would recommend you hire a qualified immigration lawyer or consultant to do this work on your behalf.
