Hello,

I am outside the country and saw one basement rental at my desired place in Toronto, but how to rent it while living in my home country?

If someone is leaving on 20th May 2014 for Toronto,so how should we have to rent an apt. from 1st May 2014?

What should be procedure and how it could be done legally and safely?

Is anyone living near Kennedy subway station?

Guide me please!!!

It's hard to secure a place without the risk of being scammed. Especially now a days that there are a lot of scammers in the internet. My friend was already in Canada but even then, 7 out of 10 ad he emailed online were scammers. How did he know? Simple, Asking him to pay an advance through Paypal or Western Union. Also there are tricks that they will say you got the place but they are "out of town". So they will leave the key in the mailbox. blah blah blah.

My advice, is for you to physically be here. Maybe rent a hostel or a really cheap hotel and slum it for a little bit while. Actually talk to the landlord and both sign lease agreement. NEVER pay cash up front, only pay with check And post dated checks. (Most landlords ask for that as a security measure). because you can easily cancel that through the bank or tell them you are stopping said checks.

Goodluck!

I agree. Wait until you are here to rent. Don't make arrangements from outside of Canada.

Best to find a hotel or something like airbnb, shorthomestay, etc

There are some ads on kijiji, etc offering short term accomodations.
