Hi Everyone,

I have a NOC B job right now, and I'm planning to apply EE under CEC when I work for a full year. However, I'm hired by an agency. It means that even though I work for Company A, I'm not its official employee. The agency pays me, and on my T4, it also says the agency.

I'm having trouble with my letter of reference right now. My agency can provide me with all the info needed for the letter except for my job duties. Because they don't know about my specific job duties. I talk to my supervisor at company A, she said that I could write my job duties, and she would approve for me (on a piece of plain paper without any letterhead). But she cant do anything else for me, because I'm not an employee.

What should I do under this situation?

Thank you all for your help.

Hello Nicole,

I was in the same position not too long ago. I received my letter of employment as well as the job offer from my employer (employment agency).
As for the employment records document, I requested my supervisor (at place of work) to approve a letter I drafted that highlights my duties. My supervisor forwarded the letter to the employment agency to have it copied on their letterhead. If your supervisor does not want to contact the employment agency, at least have him/her approve the letter so you can forward it to the employment agency yourself.

I should also mention that my job offer that was, as of three weeks ago, one year old did not mention some of the information requested by IRCC, such as NOC skill type. I inserted the employment letter which shows the missing information into the job offer document and uploaded it.

Good luck!

And one more question for you. Did you write any explanation letter to indicate your work status (that you're hired by an agency)? I feel like it's necessary to provide it.

Thank you again for your help.

I did not. My original job offer states this information in the following format:

"We are pleased to confirm our offer to have you join Employment Agency.
1. You'll be on assignment at Company as a Position. You will be reporting to Supervisor located at City."

Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.
