Hello I had asked this earlier anyone can help?

My brother who just finished his 12th is applying for a three year post secondary program under the SPP. He is waiting for GIC opening and will apply next month.

I am looking for some directions from anyone who has gone though this or has an idea. My biggest concern for him is how is he to prove that he will come back after studying given that there is no additional documents are to be submitted. We are leaning not to write an SOP since he his case is very straight forward.

How does a student prove that he will come back?

Any help is appreciated and will get +1

I will strongly suggest u to write a SOP to prove he is a genuine student. I recently applied SP for my wife and I had the same questions in my head, very hard to prove her return back to India since I am established in Canada (Just got approval)

Things that can be shown,

- Job prospect back home after completing education
- Strong family ties with parents (something like only boy in the family) and cultural aspects, this can be easily explained in the SOP
- Ur only coming to Canada as u don't have this course available in ur country (or) lack of education standards and resources to excel in your industry (this can also be easily explained in ur SOP). For example : India is booming in IT,but most of student during their education time and after when entering a job as fresher are not exposed to the core of the project, which will help u to become a good IT professional. In India students and freshers are only exposed to side links (or) developments that is fully matured. Canada helps u get exposed to the core projects and R&D at the start, which will make u a better IT professional (This can be linked with the research project tht the college is currently undertaking and projects tht are happening in the certain IT industries in Canada). This can be identified and justified in ur SOP

Best of luck :)

+1 for you and first of all congrats on on her getting the SP.

We are still deciding on the SOP since we are told not to attach any other document under the SPP which I feel is odd since how else can someone prove they will come back which seems to be a barrier applying under SPP.

He is coming for a three year post secondary engineering program after his 12th so in his case he will have to prove why he is doing engineering here and why he will come back correct?..

Did she have to show you are already there since I am not sure if having a relative will impact the application

We didn't hide anything . I provided all the documents to prove our relationship and I also included an invite letter for my wife, which stated that she will stay with me during her study period and I will be supporting her education along with her parents. We included a strong SOP to convince the VO

As long as he can show he is a genuine student who is trying to come up in life ur relationship should not be a problem. It is actually a merit, since ur there to support him. I never read anything on the CIC site that stated that u shld not include a SOP when ur applying for SPP and also have a relation in Canada, who recommended this 2 u,was it a consultant. When my wife tried it through consultants, we got the same suggestion. But we believed in our SOP and she applied on her own @ a VFS office in India (These consultants just try to make money out of u, some dont even do a good job)

Thank you once again for replying and for the encouragement

I completely agree since it makes sense submitting an SOP to show how he will learn and come back; how else can someone prove that right. I think they are getting confused with other supporting documents which is not to be attached as per the SPP check list.

We will have to build a strong SOP as you mentioned.
