As the title states I'm currently looking to part ways with my immigration lawyer.

Without going too much into detail, I've lost faith in them due to their lack of professionalism and carelessness.
I feel that it's a waste of time and expenses to continue working on immigration to Canada with someone I distrust.

With that being said, as they do have all my legal (personal) information and documents, I would like to end this properly, and I'm not exactly sure how to do it.

Do I just simply tell them that I want to part ways?

Additional Note:

- Lawyer fees are paid to them monthly (but application have been filled and sent to the lawyer, but never submitted)
- We don't have any contract between us that binds me to them through out this process.
- We have retainer agreement which says that their legal service to me will end when I fail to make my monthly payment.
- My only concern is what they could possibly do with my personal information

Chargeback the credit card

You can’t apply for a chargeback when you have received valid services. You tell your lawyer you want to part ways. Incorrect chargeback request will only cause you problems with your own credit card.

Inform them you no longer need their services, stop further payments.
If you signed/submitted the representative form you also need to inform IRCC.
They have a page explaining this if you google about changing removing representative.
