How to: Proof of funds?

Good morning! I getting ready to aply and I already have the money but it was all given to me as a gift from my mother. She just transfered me and it is all mine.
Is it okay? Or the money needs to be from jobs I had or something like it? The money was not borroed, 100% given and is fully ready to be transfered to a canadian bank or drawn.
What should I do? Leave the money resting for some months on the bank account?

Yes, leave the money in your account and submit a statement as your POF.
You do not have to wait for any kind of 'maturity' on the fund.
CIC will (very likely) not ask for the source of the fund, do not worry.
