How to open bank account from India?

Hi all,

Can someone please let me know if it's possible to open a bank account in Canada while in India itself ? I read somewhere that Scotiabank allows us to do that. But scotiabank's branch in Bangalore seems to be closed permanently. I would like to know if anyone has done this before and what my alternatives are.

Hi Heather,

I also wanted to open the account from India itself. I went to Delhi Branch of Scotia Bank, but the person told me that for opening a bank account you have to do it online. All the details are there online, we cannot help you in that. Below is the link for the same:
