How to open a Canadian Bank Account from NZ??

I want to open a canadian bank account from New Zealand to transfer funds before arriving in Canada. HSBC will only allow a premier bank account, does anyone know of which banks will allow you to open an account without being there in person? Thanks!

Have you checked CIBC and TD Canada Trust?

I have done it before and had a smooth experience. Search for branches in the city you will reside in. There is an application package and I recommend opening the account in the main branch, as they usually have more services. While you will be able to wire transfer funds into the account, you will not be able to perform any transactions inside the account until you are physicially present in Canada.

Thanks, I've tried RBC but the application form needs a canadian address and previous canadian address and then also asks for employment details? We dont have a canadian address or employment sorted yet in canada?
