how to obtain a Study Permit after receiving the S-1 visa

Hi,

I received my passport a couple of months back with an S-1 stamped student visa. As I understand it, this is not a study permit. I am an international student, and I've been told that the study permit is provided at the border after presenting this visa.

Is this true? If not, what is the procedure to obtain the study permit after this?

Yes, it is true. When you arrive at the POE, they will issue you with a study permit.
