Hi

I plan to make landing soon , but becoz i have unfinished business back home i would only stay for short period and mail pr card to a friends address , so far so good !!!

BUT the problem is i'm reading alot of topics for members who instead of the Pr card got a RED envelop saying that thiere photo specifications are not ok and they have to come in person to submit it ...... and of course I would be already outside of Canada...

could anybody let me know how to make sure those photos would be accepted ?? are they the same photos we sent with our first application sent to CIC ????

could anybody tell me if its possible to avoid this

Thanks a ton polar , veeeery helpful

But do we do these photos upon landing or they are the same photos we sent with our initial application !!!!

in the instruction you sent it states" studio must put its address on back of photos as well as date of photo plus my name and date of birth"

I didnt do that when i sent my Initial application on CIC website !!! it didnt mention that at all ??!!!

Does this mean i should expecet a Red envelop from now instead of PR card mail ...?

thanks

When you will receive original passport request from your local visa office, you will be instructed to submit photos also. Required specs of the photos will be provided to you. That photo will be used in your COPR and also your PR card.

Be careful to submit the photos exactly as per the photo specs as required by them in order to avoid any future problem.

Dear Rawdah

I need your opinion please , I got an email (as you said ) to submit photos with the PPR , the problem is that the in the email they dont mention that i should write the photographer studio NAME and ADDRESS !!! so do i write or not !

also as you notice in the below response they give me a link , once i open it shows (citizenship application photograph specification ) and it mention the address of the photographer should be put !

I asked the lawyer and he said just put your (name , file number and date of birth )

please advise me , as the area is small on the back of photo to write all those information

thanks

i pasted below what is mentioned in their letter ..

thanks

Two (2) recent photographs for yourself and each accompanying dependent:

· The photos must be 35 mm x 45 mm with a white background. Exact photo specifications are available at: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/photospecs-cit.asp .

· The two photos must show a full front view of the person’s head and shoulders, showing their full face centred in the middle of the photograph.

· Write your file number and the name of each person on the back of their photos. Do not use a ball-point pen. Wait until the ink dries before stacking the photos on top of each other.

· The photos must not be damaged or blemished. Do not staple, glue or pin the photos. Instead, they can be paper-clipped or enclosed in a small envelope.

Probably you can ask this question to the applicants belonging to your local visa office and having got the photo request recently.

In my case they didn't provide that link and didn't ask for the studio name, address and date the photo was taken so I provided only the file number and name of person.

In the US lots of places do passport photos, like drugstores, but those don't work for PR. I went to a drugstore thinking I could explain this to the person taking the photo (they basically pulled out a basic digital camera, pulled down a white backdrop, and took the pic). But the problem was in the way they they process the photo in the computer as the setting is for a passport. In the end, the girl couldn't even figure out how to trim the photo to size. I ended up taking the two sets of photos she took, put the photo over a a printed copy of the photo specs page, made sure my head fit the parameters and then trimmed it to size with an exacto. I would think the only way you could be sure not to be rejected would be to examine the photo in relation to the photograph and head size specs on the photospecs sheet.

go to a store that explicitly states they specialize in passport/citizenship/PR photos. The one I went to know the exact requirements and always stamp the back of the photo with the studio name/address and the photographers signs it. It will more expensive that your usual drugstore, etc. but worth it.

Hi cooldoc,

Did you end up figuring out whether you had to include the address of the photo studio on the photo or not?

In the email I got, they just say date of the photo must be written at the back.

Soon !
What i did was:
Follow the instructions for the requirement, plus
Sent 5 photos, all same size as described, unaltered. Not more then 6 months old (preferably fresh).
2 Photos bearing my name, applicant number and date taken on the back.
2 Photos bearing my name, applicant number, Stamp of photographer with address, and date taken on the back.
1 Photo with nothing written on the back.

Put in a small envelop, write your name and applicant number on it.

So, they could use either set.
Best of luck.
Regards

For sending the new photos, can someone please tell me the courier address for this address:

Case Processing Centre -
Permanent Residence Card
P.O. Box 4500
Sydney, Nova Scotia
B1P 6L1

I want to send from outside Canada. And the courier company does not deliver to P.O. Boxes. Would be much appreciated.
