My husband and I live in Jamaica. I am a born and raised Canadian and he is a born and raised Jamaican. I have my marriage exemption status here in Jamaica. However my brother is getting married in Sept and we are applying for a visitors visa just for about two weeks for the wedding. We have the wedding invitation sent in the mail but are unsure how to apply.

So I will give a bit of info on our situation in hopes someone can advise us. I know visitor visa's coming from Jamaica due to the actions of some...and the current state of the country are difficult to get and want to do this properly!

So I'm not sure how to apply....is it best my parents write an invite letter to sponser my husband over for those two weeks? And if so how are they to be written?

Any info I can get on this process would be appreciated. I know I can look on the site but I don't really understand it well...and don't have a lot of time to search through it!! A dumbed down reply from those who get the process would be so much help!

Also I'm wondering if there is anything we can provide to help assure the immigration officers my husband will return? We rent our home, but its fully set up. We have a nice place..fairly modern with nice furniture, a washing machine, an expensive bed. We recently made alot of these purchases..as we finally got the home we'd been waiting for and wanted to nice it up.

While our business is temporarily shut down as we are about to move locations...we are well known in our community. Would it help to get letters from friends in good job or government positions about our character and honesty or anything like that?

You may find this older post http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t42694.0.html helpful. There's a sample of a invitation letter and answers most of your question. A return ticket to Jamaica is an indication that your husband will be return to his home country.
