How to go about claiming citizenship?

Hello, I was born in the US(1983) to a Canadian father(of natural Canadian birth - with one natural born Canadian parent) and an American mother. My brother was born in Canada 2 years before me and has a dual citizenship. Am I eligible for Canadian citizenship? My Canadian grandmother helped me look into it a few years ago and she said i was eligible, can anyone else verify this? If so, what would my next steps be?

Congratulations!!! You are technically a Canadian citizen as a children of Canadian born parent! It is just a matter of applying. One thing to note, since you are not a natural born or naturalized citizen, you won't be able to transfer Canadian citizenship to your children. However you can sponsor your children as a permanent resident and they can become a naturalized Canadian citizen.
