I got my study permit and visa in USA!!!! And I will start to study in September, how can I get work permit to earn some pocket money while. I know that I can work on campus, but what about off-campus???? Please give advice for newbie!!!! Thank you!!!

You can't work off campus until you have have 6 months of studies. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-offcampus.asp

But after 6 months under what conditions I can obtain work permit????? Do I need find employer from my sphere of studies or any employer? How it works??? I will be very grateful for any reasonable input!!!! Thank you!!!

Thanks for putting up this question. To add on to this discussion... I have my question too..

I am a Grad Student at the Schulich School of Business (York University in Toronto), however, currently I'm at their India Campus for the first Term, and will be flying to Toronto in August only.
I have secured a student visa, but don't have a work permit in hand. Can I pursue an Internship at a Canadian company in June. Point to note is that though I'm a registered student with the Canadian bschool, and have a Visa since Jan 2010, I am still in India and havent traveled to Canada. I'll be pursuing my MBA already for 6 months, by June (when I plan to start internship).

Can I apply for a work permit on the basis my Canadian Visa and Internship Offer letter? Can I apply for one right now while I'm in India. Pls guide.
