How to get the legal status back experts please advice.

Hi guys,

I am in a very bad situation at the moment. I was an international student from 2012 to 2013 and been on a work permit after, I extended my status in 2014 on LMO based work permit, but had to quit that job due to some reason, but status got valid till the end of the WP issued.
Now that status is going to expire in couple of months and I haven't got any Nomination/ITA because of less points. I am trying to find a job offer from last one year, but have't got one. Can someone please suggest me how can I get my legal status again in order to extend my legal stay.

I think one of your options would be to change your status then if your work permit is about to expire, change your status to become a visitor if you are able to. The application to change your status to visitor takes about 4 - 6 months to process so it gives you sometime to figure yourself out but this would be only option I can think of. I know it is hard being here without work because of the expenses.

Please bare in mind to change your status to a visitor you would also have to show you have the funds to support yourself here while being a visitor which would be about $6000-8000 I believe.

If this is not an option for you as you would not be able to work and expenses pile up then your other option would be return to your home country and hope the cut off scores eventually becomes lower or improve your IELTS score.

when is the best way to change the status to visitor and what if I change my status to student and go back to school again.

You can also change your status to being a student if you want but again you need the letter of acceptance from the school to apply and be able to show proof that you / parents can support you during your studies. Keep in mind study permits also take a while to be processed so you need to keep that in mind depending on when the program you are applying for starts.

I am not sure how long before your work permit expires that you have to send in the application, i would probably say to be safe maybe a month before.
