How to get Potential Supervisor

How do I find potential research supervisor before applying to universities?
Is it really necessary to search for the supervisor and will my application be rejected if I dont do so?

Your views in this regard will be highly appreciated

You typically find a supervisor by reaching out to individual professors directly.

Whether you need to have a supervisor in advance depends on the program you are applying to. Some require it - some don't.

I reached out to 10 professor 2 of them didnt accept me and rest didnt reply.
It's super hard to find the supervisor.

Has anyone of guys able to get the supervisor?If so how did you convinced him ? help me out.
