HOW TO GET MY PR CARD

I landed Toronto in the first week of June, 2011 as a PR, stayed there with my friend till mid of Juy'11 and came back. I was not able to get the PR card at that time because of CANADA POST strike. Now I got a red letter from the immigration dept saying that there is some problem in the photographs and you need to send them again within 180 days after receiving this letter. I got this letter at my friend's local address there. In that letter It is specifically written that there is no need to visit the office for submission of photographs as this facility is now withdrawn and you have to send these through post only. Now I have the following querries:
1. Can I forward the required photographs from outside canada address!!
2. Have I to confirm them that I am, at present, outside Canada!!
3. Can I give my friends local address for communication as I had given earlier at the time of landing. (Although they have not demanded any address confirmation or proof of my present address)!!
4. My friend is planning to visit me in the month of June'12. Is it possible that he may bring my PR(if issued) alongwith him and handover to me. In that case, is there any need to show, how I got my PR card when I was not residing in CANADA!!
Pl answer my queries one by one..

THanks

Sounds good :)
The answers are already there in your questions.
You can mail the photographs from where you are now. No body question that. Ensure the photo specification same as required.
You don't have to tell any one that you are out of Canada now
Better you don't change the address till you get your PR card. So leave that address as it is.
If your PR card arrived ( hope so) to your friend, let him bring it. That is the safest method.

Good luck.

You should send your photos to your friend and he can send to the Immigration office.
Also, as previously said, do not change your address. Let it be your frinds address.
That way, there wont be any new complications...

A landed immigrant is allowed to leave Canada before receiving his PR card. There is nothing against the rule and there is no complcations on that. If he/she did not get the PR card when intended to return, he/she should apply for a PRTD - travel document - from the nearest Canadian Mission at the country where he/she live. There is no problem if the photos or any documents are sent directly, by post or courier to CIC from out side Canada.

Thanks for your detailed reply.

I have another query which I hope would require your attention.
There is a specific requirement regarding PHOTO SPECIFICATIONS for PR card that:
"Be on Photographic paper that has a backing which accepts and retains the date. Photos without this backing are not acceptable."
Further it quotes that:
"bear the date the photo was taken(not the date the photo was printed) directly on the back of one print (stick-on labels are not acceptable).

Now how you explain this requirement! How one has to take the date on the backside of the photograph!
1. should it be printed on the back!
2. should there be some stamp of the photographer mentioning the date, when photo was clicked!
3. Should it be written through hand by Permanent Marker!

I confirmed from some of the photographers available locally that there is no system by which they may print the date on the backside.
The only option is to write the date by hand. Will there requirement be satisfied by this!!
Please reply.

If your photo studio does not have such facility let them put a date stamp with their seal. Some studios have a small round seal and the date is written by hand inside the seal. Studios may use date stamp too. Check with other studios.

Really thanks for your prompt reply.

While putting Photographer stamp on the backside of the photograph, the Immigration authorities will come to know that the photograph are taken outside Canada. Is there a chance that they may put an objection about my present residential status or they may inquire about whether I am in Canada or outside!!
Should I ask photographer to put a stamp carrying only name and date and avoid putting Address!!

Please reply.

Hi my friend,

You are getting confused again.. please read my first reply to you.:

You can mail the photographs from where you are now. No body question that. Ensure the photo specification same as required.
You don't have to tell any one that you are out of Canada now
Better you don't change the address till you get your PR card. So leave that address as it is.
If your PR card arrived ( hope so) to your friend, let him bring it. That is the safest method.

So, do it accordingly from the place where you are now. If you are already out of Canada, you can mail it from there. By hiding the fact you are now out side Canada, does not make any difference for processing the PR Cared, if you meet their requirements.

You can always submit a change of address. But I don't know whether they may ask for any proof of address. However, try.
