- A job offer from a Canadian employer
- A completed application, that shows that you meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, and written confirmation from Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC) that the employer can hire a foreign worker to fill the job. In my experience getting an LMO is like pulling hens teeth, excuse the britishism. I applied to work at PWC and they refused an LMO for me, another friend got his refused by the HR dept of canada who issue the LMOs another girl got hers died by another company, and another friend got hers turned down as the job wasnt full time enough at 33 hours.

To get an approved LMO, PWC has to prove they advertised the job and were unable to find a Canadian to hire for the role. This is difficult to prove since there are many Canadians with the required qualifications. This is why consultant companies and banks are typically unwilling to apply for LMOs - they know they are going to be refused.

My job was advertised accross Western Canada (i.e. networking events, job posting, etc) and over 300 canadiates were selected for the first round interview. I was lucky to get hired after the second round. I thought this should be considered as a fair process as they considered everyone fairly...

It had a good turn out - but how many did they interview?

Another hurdle is proving there aren't suitable Canadians for the job.

I feel like it is a hard argument as you can always say there must be a Canadian who is more suitable.

I do agree in most cases, although it takes serious dedication and determination to want to work as a live-in nanny. We may find a Canadian suitable, but willing is a different story (especially for minimum wage). Same goes for jobs in the far north - many Canadians don't care how great the job is, they won't move that far north.

If you got an approved LMO, then I think you and your employer got lucky.

To be approved for an LMO, you have to prove that no one else could be hired for the role. It doesn't matter if you were the best candidate - this is not what has to be proven to obtain an approved LMO. The employer must be able to prove that no one else could be found to do the job.

I just looked at your profile again. You're on an Off Campus Work Permit transitioning to a PGWP and don't need an LMO.

Because you are LMO exempt, your situation is completely different and your experiences don't apply to the other discussions in this thread.

If you had required an LMO like the others in this thread, your employer wouldn't have been able to hire you since there were Canadian candidates available.

is it necessary for the lmo to be of the field i have done my masters or it can be of any field and than i can pursue for PR? Pls help me guys..........pls........

MY IELTS SCORE IS 5.5 AND I AM FROM PAKISTAN AND I HAVING MBA DEGREE WITH 3 YEARS EXPERIENCE
APPLY IN CALGARY WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE TO GET lMO AND HOW MUCH IS PROCESSING TIME OF THIS PROCESS.

To get an LMO you need to find an employer in Canada who is willing to offer you a job. That employer will then apply for the LMO. Once the LMO has been approved, you will then apply for a work permit. Expect the entire process to take quite a few months.
