I landed in Vancouver last year in June and gave all the test and got my Class 5 license (equal to G license of Ontario).
Now i have moved to Toronto, yesterday i went to Ontario drive test to get G license, but according to them i will get G2 license in place of my BC license .
Also according to them my Authentication letter for Indian License is now one year old, so i can't go for G license test.

Please advice the options to get Authentication letter for Indian License in Toronto

In that case it is best for you to go to a driving school unless you have a friend who can teach you. You must study the drivers handbook and take the written exam to get a learners permit (G1 license). With the learners permit, you can take driving lessons or practice with a friend.

If you practice with a friend, you must spend 12 months on a learners permit before you may take the G1 road test to graduate to a G2 license which allows you to drive alone. If you go to a driving school, it would be 8 months instead of 12.

very usefull thread

The DriveTest official has informed u correctly. U require over 2yrs. driving exp in BC to neat-swap it to 'G' in Ontario. Else, u get 'G2' only. Here's what their website state:

Exchanging an Out-Of-Province Driver's Licence

- If you are a licensed driver with two or more years of driving experience from one of these jurisdictions, you may get full Class G licence privileges without taking a knowledge or road test. However, you must pass a vision test and show acceptable proof of your previous licence status and driving experience.

- If you have less than two years of driving experience, you may get credit for your experience for graduated licensing and be issued a Class G2 or M2 licence. Once you have a total of two years of driving experience, you may take the G2 or M2 road test to earn full driving privileges.

Any ideas on which Car insurance company to approach?

1. We must obtain a 'Letter of Authentication'* from the country's Roads & Transport Authority, explaining** our D/License.

pls, is it necessary to certify the letter from Canadian Embassy in Riyadh (KSA)?

Look for an insurance broker. Wawanesa and ING might be cheaper but an insurance broker can give you all the options.

YES, as Leon suggested - an Ins. Broker is our best bet. I'm now paying $3636/yr. with AXA - thru my broker.
