How to Get Canadian Driving License -for Newcomers

Hi Leon,
I hope if you can advise me on this:
I landed 3 weeks ago in toronto, and would like to apply for Ontario`s D/L but unfortunately I forgot to bring my authentication letter ,however I still have my original D/L where it is written in english and arabic and it shows the day it was issued...there are 2 scenarios since I will be going back to UAE in 2 weeks or even less:
Scenario A:
go to the driving test with UAE D/L only and requested the driving history letter from UAE and it will be sent through DHL:
Q1-can the officer waive the waiting period and let me go to G2 exit road directly or s/he will ask me to go for the G1 road test. and after I recieve the letter I come back to hand it over then go for the G2 road test...!!
SCENARIO B:
go to the driving test with UAE D/L and the authentication letter:
Q1: if I pass the written and eye test,and supposedly they allow me to go for the G2 road test,can I take the appointment after I retun from my home country like in 3 months time.
General question: do we have to notorize the authentication from the canadian embassy or only the foriegn minister of UAE or both.....as my brother got it stamped from UAE foreign ministry but the canadian embassy are closed for 3 days and also they requested an authorisation letter from me .
-also to save time will the driving test center accept a color print out of a scanned authentication letter or they need the original.

I can not tell you in detail what the driving test centre will accept or not accept. You should ask them in person.
I have only heard that if you enter the GDL system by taking the written test without presenting a foreign license and asking them to evaluate that you will then be in the GDL system and have to do the waiting periods without the option of bringing the letter at a later date.
However, you are allowed to self-declare a driving experience of 12 months without a letter so if you do that, you can take the basic road test and get a G2 license which will allow you to drive alone. If you are in the GDL system, you have to drive on your G2 license for 2 years before you can take the advanced road test and get a full license.
Ask the driving test centre yourself about the details though.
thanks alot leeon, best to go to the center and ask them myself....anyhow....u gave me a great link to Ontario`s drivers handbook site which looks like the online one,it says this manual is only for guide....so my question is this manual u gave is same as the one that is sold at shops 14 $ or something, i mean can i study from this online book and go for the written exam or better to buy the one at the shops.

I just submitted driving test and provided 4 years of experience. I passed written and vision test and going to provide road test soon.
However, I have got class G1 after submitting vision and written, is this correct?

Hi Mr. Qorax, we are from Dubai and somewhere here we read that there's an issue Dubai driving licenses as they show father/husband name along with your name as they are written in same line.
In Toronto, is this an issue; hence we shall go to RTA for name correction on our driving license as mine is showing my husband name with me?

im from Saudi, had no issues with mine, my saudi dl also reads my father's and my name in a single line but it was accepted and i have G1 license, and failed GNN74 said:

I need some advise. I have 3 years driving experience from Saudi Arabia. I got extract printout from maroor office. Will translation of the same from authorized translator here in Toronto be enough to claim my experience of 2 + years or I should approach Saudi Embassy Ottawa for certification as well. please advise
