- To apply for the BD police clearance certificate from Canada, you will need: a) a person residing in BD who can collect the police clearance on your behalf, b) an active BD phone number, c) certified copy of your passport, d) authorization letter, e) BD NID card/birth certificate, f) your photo, g) your Canadian immigration document (for attesting the passport), and h) fees.
- One of the important documents you will need for the police clearance application is the copy of your passport, which must be certified from the BD high commission/consulate. If you are in Toronto, Canada, create an account under the BD consulate server: https://bdcgtoronto.ca/
- Login to your BD consulate account and start a new application for “Attestation”. Enter all the required information, such as passport number, address, etc. Also, you need to upload a picture of the applicant and the documents to be attested. You should attest at least two documents: copy of your passport and an authorization letter that will allow your nominated person to collect the police clearance on your behalf. You can download the authorization letter template from the BD consulate website: https://bdcgtoronto.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Authorization-letter-1.docx
- Using your BD consulate account, submit the document attestation application online. Pay the required application fee. Print out the generated application confirmation page, copy of your passport, and the authorization letter. Send these documents along with the original passport by mail or take these in-person to the BD consulate. If you take those in-person you need to make an appointment. For urgent processing, you may get your documents attested within the same day, but for regular processing it takes 3 business days.
- Create an online account under the PCC server for the police clearance application: http://pcc.police.gov.bd:8080/ords/f?p=500:1:::NO:::
- Contact any relative/friend in Bangladesh whose phone number you can use for the PCC account. Ensure that the person is responsible enough to verify the phone number within 5 minutes of making the account!
- Login to your PCC account and start a new application by clicking “Apply” (One account can be used for applying for police clearance for more than one person).
- Enter all the required information, such as passport number, addresses, etc. Also, you need to upload a picture of the applicant.
- Now, upload the attested copy of your passport, BD NID copy, birth certificate (Probably only the copy of the passport is sufficient). There is no need to certify the latter two documents.
- Proceed to the payment step. You will have the option to pay the application fee (500 BDT) manually by someone through Sonali Bank, or you can pay online through e-chalan. To pay online, first you need to create an account under http://www.echallan.gov.bd/signup
- While you are logged in to both PCC website and e-challan account, the system will automatically generate the e-challan form. In case your browser doesn’t allow the payment to go through, you can change the browser settings to allow the e-challan website to securely complete the transaction. After the payment is complete, ensure that you have downloaded the challan receipt.
- Once you have the challan completed, it will take at least a business day to appear in the system. So, after waiting one day, go back to the PCC account and enter the challan information and upload the challan receipt copy.
- Your police clearance application is now complete. Download the summary of your police clearance application from the PCC account and send it your nominated person electronically. You should also send the copy of the authorization letter as well (electronic copy is fine).
- After the police authority completes all necessary steps including the verification, the application status will show as “ready for pick up”. Your authorized person will need to take the printed copy of your online application and the copy of the certified authorization letter to pick up the police clearance certificate on your behalf. That’s it!
