Hey all,

Just trying to understand the process of entering Canada with a conviction record. There are details on the CIC website but seems they are just for people who need an ETA or a Temporary resident visa to enter. A USA citizen does not need either of those and so how do they go about applying for a Temporary Resident Permit and how does this differ from a Temporary Resident Visa?

It seems as though you can apply in person at the border (probably a little riskier if you've already planned a trip to visit) or can apply at US Consulate? The consulate seems to say that they will not take any in person applications. Any clarification here?

Conviction was served at minimum security for 6 months and was just under 2 years ago.
