How to get a job

I have received the invitation to apply and am currently in process of getting the documents ready. I work as a technical writer in India. Considering the high cost of living in Canada, I want to try and have a job in hand when I land in Canada. Does anyone have any tips for finding a job in Canada before actually moving there?

I am in New York and looking for a job in Canada. I have posted my resume to the major job search boards and apply to suitable jobs as often as I can. They say networking is the best way to find a job if you can do that. Also, a friend of a friend who recently got permanent residence in Canada told me that it is very difficult to find a job in Canada from overseas, and our chances would be much better after we move to Canada.
