According to the link below, you have to go to a land border crossing:

hi sai, so you are going to land soon when you get your passport back? well, this is the first time i heard about flag pole. actually, when i went to the border, i just told the US immigration officer, that i am here to complete my landing in canada. the officer asked couple of questions like work, position, etc. but nothing really serious, just basic. they also gave me a paper, i think it was a refusal of admission or whatever. then at the canadian immigration, i asked them what if i apply for US visa, would there be any problem since US issued a refusal of admission. canadian officer said, just say it is for the benefit of my canadian status. that's it.

You CAN do an inland landing. You have to call the Call Centre to request an appointment.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/call.asp

Usually takes at least a month to get an appointment, maybe longer at some centres. You have to land before your visa expires (generally, 1 year from the date of your medical), so be sure if you have enough time on your visa. Most people choose not to wait :)

Thanks for sharing JES_ON but I really don't think I am planning to wait for 1 month as just driving to border and exiting and re-entering seems alot quicker and easy.

But it was nice that you shared an info!

Thanks!

Ok. Jes_ON you might be the right person to answer this if you did the landing on border and took U-TURN. I read on one of the forums on trackitt that they have closed the U-TURNS at all Candadian borders because of security risks! Would you happen to knwo that how legit this info is, If according to your status you landed on 3rd Sep, 2011 at any canadian border?

sorry umairz, I landed at Sault Ste. Marie after spending nearly 2 weeks in the USA - no u-turn experience for me :) People were reporting doing the u-turn as recently as this summer, but of course rules can change at any time. And it may not be possible at all crossings. Yeah, sure, it would be more convenient just to do a u-turn, but it's not a big deal if you can't.
